A phonebook token is a "smart" piece of text that represents an entry in a phonebook. A token displays the name and/or phone number, as well as an icon for the type of phonebook entry.

A token representing a group of contacts displays the group name and the number of contacts in the group.

Tokens in selectable text are drawn with a transparent background, and turn blue when the mouse is over them.
Click the triangle on the right side of a token to open the token menu.

The top of the token menu contains options for opening new windows using the token's phonebook entry.
The bottom of the token menu contains shortcuts for copying the entry to the clipboard and for searching your computer using Spotlight.
Click the triangle on the right side of a token to open the token menu. The top of the token menu contains options for editing the address of the current call or message.

The token menu can contain alternate phone numbers for that contact. Select an alternate phone number to change the address of the current call or message.
The token menu will contain a list of contacts if the token represents a group. Select Edit Group from the token menu to change individual contacts.
Double-clicking a token has the same effect as selecting Edit from the token's menu.
Token icons indicate the type of phonebook entry a token represents.
